Billy Gene Abbott

BILLY GENE ABBOTT, age 71 of Maplesville, passed away on March 10, 2018 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Homewood, AL. He was born in Chilton County on July 7, 1946; the son of the late Felton Abbott and the late Rosa Mae Haigler Abbott.

He was a former machinist. He also served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

He is survived by: Brother, Raymond (Mattie) Abbott of Maplesville; Brother, Cecil (Lynn) Abbott of Maplesville; Brother, Earl Abbott of Maplesville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Daughter, Nikki Abbott McKenzie; Parents, Felton and Rosa Mae Abbott; Sisters, Willie Dale Cahlane and Dorothy Stough; and Brothers: Buddy Abbott, Will Abbott, and Doug Abbott.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 6-8pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:00pm from Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church with Bro. Benjie Abbott and Rev. Roland Hazel officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial with military honors will follow in the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Cemetery in Plantersville, AL.

The family request in lieu of flowers, please contribute towards the funeral expenses.
