CURTIS “PETE” BISHOP, age 76 of Jemison, passed away on May 2, 2019 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.
Pete was born in Indian Springs, Alabama to Walter and Annie Bishop on March 28, 1943. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca “Pat” Street on November 30, 1963. Pete ran his own successful excavating business with his brother, Johnnie, until his retirement in 2008. After retiring Pete developed his skills and talents to become a master craftsman designing and creating authentic Indian art. Pete was active in ministry at his church, Daystar Ministries.
Pete is preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as his brother, Johnnie; and sister, Virginia “Pud” Battle-Owens.
Pete is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat; daughter, Debbie (Travis) Norman; granddaughter, Amber Norman; and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Champagne, Todd Champagne, Vance Linholm, Mike Romanger, Roy Whitner, and “Little Roy” Whitner.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Mike Bailey and Rev. Steve Chase officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will follow in the Captain William Cross Cemetery in Indian Springs, Alabama.
