DENTON EARL "WORMY" PHILLIPS, age 63 of Maplesville, passed away on July 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Mobile, AL on March 4, 1956; the son of the late Wilburn Phillips and the late Lona Pearl Stokley Phillips.
He was employed as a maintenance man with Cheney Lime and Cement Company for the past 7 years. He enjoyed the outdoors while hunting and fishing. He especially loved being in his boat out on the water.
He is survived by: Wife, Mona Sledge of Maplesville; Son, Jackie Denton Phillips of Mobile; Son, Devan Earl Phillips of Montevallo; Daughter, Kayla Carlee (Dustin) Gore of Clanton; Step-Son, Brandon Sledge of Maplesville; Step-Son, Travis (Jessica) Sledge of Maplesville; Step-Son, Austin Sledge of Maplesville; 8 Grandchildren; Brother, Wallace Mitchell (Debbie) Phillips of Mobile; Brother, Terry Lamar (Gwen) Phillips of Mobile; Brother, Jeffery Dewade (Debbie) Phillips of Mobile; Sister, Renee (Tracy) Holmes of Mobile; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 5-8pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 11:00am in the Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville, AL with Rev. Hank Staton and Rev. Matthew Brasher officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Muzzey Zeigler, Justin Adams, Joey Driver, Matt Hill, Johnny Knox, Josh Lathom, Jake Wallis, and Shannon Whittle.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Adam Kiker, Ronny Strum, Johnny Hutcheson, Andy Blake, and Daniel Dixon.
