Eldon Earl Green

ELDON EARL GREEN, age 85 of Thorsby, passed away on September 29, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Autauga County on April 23, 1934; the son of the late Barney McCoy Green and the late Dora Lena Dykes Green.

Eldon was a graduate of Billingsley High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army. Following his stent in the armed forces, he would go on to work for the United States Department of Agriculture. He would later work with the United States Department of the Treasury. He would retire as Port Director of the Birmingham District of the United States Customs Service.

He was a devoted husband, and a loving father to his sons. He was beloved by all his grandchildren, who at some point in time in their childhood, enjoyed a ride with him on his lawnmower around their Thorsby home. Eldon, along with his wife, Barbara, was a faithful member of Thorsby First Baptist Church. Eldon’s presence will be greatly missed in not only his beloved church, but the entire community.

He is survived by: Wife, Barbara B. Green of Thorsby; Son, Don (Kathy) Green of Pelham; Son, Ricky (Teresa) Green of Thorsby; Son, Jason (Kristen) Green of Calera; Grandchildren: Kimberly, Austin, Rianna, Jadon, and Wyatt; Brother, Jerry (Shirley) Green of Clanton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, along with his Brothers: Thomas Green, Wendel Green, J.B. Green, and Barney Green.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 5-8pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 11:00am from the Thorsby First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Green, Rev. Marc Hodges, and Rev. Von McQueen officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the services at the church.

Burial will follow in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.
