Leland Ray West, Jr.

LELAND RAY WEST, JR., age 70 of Clanton, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2020 at St. Vincent-Chilton Hospital in Clanton. He was born in Millington, TN on February 28, 1949; the son of the late Leland Ray West, Sr. and June Tucker West.

He was the former owner of Dixie General Inc.

He honorable served in country in the United States Navy with one tour of duty during the Vietnam Conflict, and one tour of duty following. During his service he was awarded the Air Medal along with a Bronze Star for heroic action in a combat zone.

He is survived by: Wife, Andrea West of Clanton; Daughter, Mandy (Keith) Grund of Jemison; Son, Robby (Tracie) West of Thorsby; Grandchild, Keelin West of Thorsby; Grandchild, Kamryn Grund of Jemison; Mother, June West of Clanton; Brother, Ric (Jacci) West of Tafton, PA; Brother, Rob (Doris) West of Clanton; Sister, Sheri (Rick) McKee of Clanton; Brother, Randy (Pamela) West of Dallas, TX; Sister, Nan (Mark) Witham of Carrolton, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 9:30am in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00pm from the Lighthouse Church in Thorsby with Pastor Travis Bussey officiating.

The family request no flowers, but encourage memorials be made to the Lighthouse Church Benevolence Fund P.O. Box 196 Thorsby, AL 35171.
