Anita Martin Obituary

Mrs. Anita Gail (Bearden) Martin, age 67 of Jemison, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in College Park, Georgia on October 20, 1958; the daughter of the late Allen Bearden, Jr. and the late Rosa Lucile Jenkins Bearden.

Anita devoted many years of her life working in the substation design industry, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. More importantly, she was a loving and faithful wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved, especially her grandchildren and precious great-granddaughter, who brought immense joy to her heart.

Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was the guiding foundation of her life. Anita was a faithful member of Jemison First Baptist Church and lived each day with a quiet strength, loving spirit, and servant’s heart that touched all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Andy Martin of Jemison; daughter, April (Timothy) Johns of Calera; grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha) Johns of Calera and Meridith (Artemus) Dyal of Calera; great-granddaughter, Lydia Johns of Calera; brothers, Ron (Jan) Bearden of Sand Mountain, Kenny (Julie) Bearden of Jemison, and Randy Bearden of Clanton; along with numerous extended family members, church family, and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from Jemison First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Coleman and Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, Alabama.

The family requests no flowers; instead, memorial contributions may be made to Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center or to Big Oak Ranch in Anita’s memory.

“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Proverbs 31:26 (KJV)
