ANNIE MAE (POPWELL) VANDERSLICE, age 92 of Clanton, passed away on March 2, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Chilton County on August 10, 1932; the daughter of the late J.W. Alfred Popwell and the late Roxie Payton Popwell.
Ann was a mother, housewife, and CNA. She loved being a caretaker. She found much joy in serving Christ and others. She loved gardening and seeing flowers grow.
She is survived by: Daughter, Barbara (Miguel) Rivera of Athens; Daughter, Faye Vanderslice (Dirk) Hansen of Sylacauga; Son, Jim (Rita) Vanderslice of Carthage, MS; Son, Emmett (Sharon) Vanderslice of Odenville; Son, Douglas (Linda) Vanderslice of Clanton; Grandchildren: Miguel Rivera, Jr, Amanda Rivera Spenard, James Hansen, Mary Hansen, Mitchell Vanderslice, Matthew Vanderslice, and Halie Vanderslice; Step Grandchildren: Brooke Martin, Jeremy huff, and Laura Huff; Great Grandchildren: Daniel Spenard, John Spenard, Mark Spenard, Ariana Rivera, Ethan Vanderslice, Carson Vanderslice, Bentley Barker, Hannah Huff, and Eli Huff; Great-Great Grandchildren: Brayden Spenard, Scarlett Spenard, and Kinsley Spenard; and she also leaves behind many great friends and her church family from Concord Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by: Husband of fifty years, James V. Vanderslice; Parents, J.W. Alfred Popwell and Roxie Payton Popwell; Sister, Lois Griswald; Brother, James Popwell; Brother, Alfred Popwell; and Brother, William Popwell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Randal Mims officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton, AL.
