BARBARA JEANETTE “BOBBIE” (HATCHER) GIBSON, age 81 of Thorsby, passed away peacefully at her home on September 15, 2025. She was born to Lacey "Doc" and Hazel Jones Hatcher in Bainbridge, GA. Her family moved westward from there with Doc’s job, and she grew up in small towns across the deep south, finishing high school in Andalusia, AL.
Bobbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved having her family come home for a meal. She thoroughly enjoyed the flora and fauna surrounding her home, a perfect cup of coffee, an old western movie, a clean house, a neat roadside even. She enjoyed many roles at church, working with children in VBS and Sunday School, maintaining the church library, and decorating the church with flowers. She was an artist and so enjoyed the fellowship of her art class.
She is survived by: Husband, Briggs Lee Gibson; Son, Briggs "Cameron" Gibson (Janis Caudle Gibson); Daughters, Christie Gibson Messer (John Thad Messer) and Nancy Gibson Moore (Joel Donahue Moore); Six Grandchildren: Michael Brandon Beam, Autry Rebekah (Joshua David) Sutcliff, Briggs Forrest (Haley Lynn Smith, Fiancé) Gibson, Nathan Donahue (Rachel Greene) Moore, Abigail Marion Moore, and Emily Grace Messer; Two Great Grandchildren, Jackson Lee Beam and Easton Alexander Beam; Brother, James Stroud (Karen) Hatcher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
She is preceded in death by: Parents, Doc and Hazel Hatcher; and sisters, Linda Sue Hatcher (Bob) Rawls and Lucy Marie Hatcher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 2:00pm from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Zack Bates, Rev. David Bishop, and Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville, AL.
