BETTIE CATHERINE (GILMORE) ADAMS, age 86 of Calera, passed away on March 30, 2022 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Homewood, AL. She was born in Shelby County on February 14, 1936; the daughter of the late Basil Clark Gilmore and the late Catherine Naomi Maddox Gilmore.
Catherine was the former co-owner with her husband of Valley Fireplace. Nan, Catherine, Cathy, Kitten, Aunt Kitty, Mom, or whatever you may have called her, there is no doubt that she touched your life in some way. To know her was to know God. To know her was to understand the concept of family. To know her was to know what living life to the fullest means. To know her is knowing that living your life 100% for God and putting the needs of others before yourself means.
She is survived by: Husband, James W. Adams; Daughter, Debbie (Ricky) Seale; Son, Wesley (LaRue) Adams; Son, David (Lisa) Adams; Grandchildren: Adam (Michelle) Seale, Tiffany (Chip) Wilkins, John (Kelly) Adams, Jason Adams, Hank (Tiffany) Tolleson, Luke Ranieri, Mallory Ranieri, and William Ranieri ; Great-Grandchildren: Cash, James, Brenna, Wyatt, Emmie, Ava, Isaac, Lily, Chan, and Tosh; Brother, Clark (Judy) Gilmore; Sister, Shara (Jim) Wright; Sister, Loretta (Terrell) Adams.
She is preceded in death by: Daughter, Cathy (Randy) Duckworth; Grandchildren, Kevin Parrish and Vincent Ranieri; Parents, Basil and Catherine Gilmore; and Sister, Ann (Donald) Honneycutt.
A Funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2:00pm from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Brad Jantz and Father Ray Dunmyer officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at the church.
Interment will follow in the Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, AL.
