Betty Mae (Crumpton) Posey

BETTY MAE (CRUMPTON) POSEY, age 94 of Randolph, passed away on September 23, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1931, in Chilton County.  She grew up farming in the community with her siblings and parents. She met and married Edwin SD Posey in 1949 and after raised her two children, Sue and Rickey. She helped her husband SD run small grocery stores in Jemison and Randolph in the 1950s-1960s.  Later in her life, she worked at Moore & Handley in Alabaster, as well as Shelby Memorial Hospital, until 1982. In her retirement, she enjoyed raising flowers, vegetables, peaches and other produce at her family farm in Randolph.

  In her later years she enjoyed being part of the nursery and card ministry at Union Springs Baptist Church. She also often visited the home bound individuals of her community, sharing her home-grown vegetables and her strong Christian faith. She loved baking cakes and pies to give away, to uplift her friends and family through all the years she was able.  

She is survived by her daughter Sue Pate (Bobby), daughter in law Linda Posey , sister Bonnie McMichael, brother Dan Crumpton (Joyce) and sister Barbara Smitherman.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Neal (Kara) Pate, Troy (Pamela) Pate, Dale Pate, Tracy (Tiffany) Pate, Heath Posey, Amanda (Dennis) Morgan, Wes Posey, Andrea Bryan, and Jeremy & Jennifer Littleton.

Great Grandchildren: Kaylyn Pate, Gracie Pate, Hannah (Jacob) Dinacola, Darren Pate, Rayegan Pate, Bradye Pate, Nolan Posey, Adrianna Leach, Vada Posey, Jaycee Pate, Jay Leach, Jinger Pate, Justice Posey, Levi Pate, Eleanor Pate, Ridge Posey and also Logan & Hannah Littleton.

Great- Great Grandchildren: Raylynn Croswell, Canaan Pate, and Teddy Dinacola.

Mrs. Posey was also survived by a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.  She was thankful for the unwavering love of her friends as well as her church family of Union Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Posey is preceded in death by her husband, SD Posey, son Richard “Rickey” Earl Posey, Grandson-in-Law, Russ Bryan; Parents Robert & Ruby Crumpton, Infant brother JR Crumpton, brother Marvin Crumpton, brother Billy Crumpton, and sister Shirley Cochran.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:00pm from Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Lowery and Rev. Evie Megginson officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Union Springs Baptist Cemetery in Randolph, AL.
