LAURA BRENDA (LEIGH) FELKINS, age 85 of Clanton, passed away on January 26, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Jefferson County, AL on October 12,1939; the daughter of the late George Clark Leigh, Sr. and the late Laura Stella Mills Leigh.
Brenda was formerly employed with Vulcan Binder where she worked in telesales. She was also the owner and manager of Leigh Camp located on beautiful Lay Lake just north of Clanton. Brenda and her husband, Rev. Mahlon S. Felkins, Jr, served several United Methodist congregations in the North Alabama Conference for over four decades.
She is survived by: Husband of 68 years, Rev. Mahlon Scott Felkins, Jr, of Clanton; Daughter, Pamela Felkins Colbert of Vestavia; Son, Mahlon Scott (Selena) Felkins III of Sylacauga; Daughter, Laurie (Ray) Vollenweider of Hoover; Grandchildren: Major Adam Colbert, Ansley Grace Felkins Johnston, John Houston Felkins, Marc Austen Vollenweider, and Aaron Matthew Vollenweider; Great Grandchildren: Addie Colbert, Roland Colbert, Braden Johnston, Alice Johnston, Eleanor Vollenweider, Ivy Vollenweider, Kathryn Vollenweider, Margaret Vollenweider and Miles Vollenweider; Brother, Henry (Kathy) Leigh; and Brother, John Robert (Delores) Leigh.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Clark (Peggy) Leigh, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. John Drawhorn officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
