Britney Smith Obituary

BRITNEY LaCOLE (LOVETT) SMITH, age 39, of Centreville, went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2025.

She was born on May 14, 1986, in Homewood, Alabama, the beloved daughter of Rev. Mark Roger Lovett and Lisa Giles Lovett. From an early age, Britney was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering desire to care for others—a calling she fulfilled through her work as a registered nurse. Throughout her career, she compassionately served and touched countless lives, offering healing, comfort, and hope to those in need.

Britney’s greatest joy and purpose came from her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving and nurturing mother, a cherished daughter and granddaughter, and a beloved sister and aunt. Her presence lit up every room, and her love was the foundation of her home.

She is survived by her husband, James Oliver "Jim" Smith of Centreville; and their five precious children: Layton, Landon, Madison, Maison, and Emmerson Smith, all of Centreville. She is also survived by her parents, Rev. Mark and Lisa Lovett of Maplesville; her brother, Johnathan (Stacey) Lovett of Scottsboro; paternal grandmother, Pauline Lovett of Jemison; maternal grandmother, Ruthie Jean Giles of Maplesville; nephew, Jacob Lovett; and niece, Katie Lovett.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Roger Lovett, and her maternal grandfather, Johnny Giles.

A celebration of Britney’s life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Mark Lovett and Rev. Clark Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, Alabama.

Though her time here was far too short, Britney’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to live on in the lives of her family, friends, and all those blessed to have known her.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
— Psalm 73:26
