Cathy Ann (Adams) Duckworth

CATHY ANN (ADAMS) DUCKWORTH, age 58 of Maylene, passed away suddenly on May 1, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Alabaster, AL on July 25, 1961; the daughter of James Williams Adams and Bettie Catherine Gilmore Adams.

Cathy was a 1979 graduate of Thompson High School. She would go on to graduate from the University of Montevallo with a Master’s Degree in History. She was an educator, who taught history at Thompson Middle School and later at Thompson High School. Cathy loved her family and friends. She loved her Lord and attending mass at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church.

She is survived by: Husband, Randy Duckworth of Maylene; Son, Hank (Tiffany) Tolleson of Columbiana; Father, James “Jim” Adams of Calera; Mother, Catherine Adams of Calera; Sister, Debbie (Ricky) Seale of Columbiana; Brother, Wesley (LaRue) Adams of Calera; and Brother, David (Lisa) Adams of Calera.

She is preceded in death by her Son, Kevin Parrish.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a drive-thru visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 5-6pm at the Shelby Memory Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Calera, AL. Everyone please remain in your vehicle at all times and follow the directions of funeral home staff.

Also due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a drive-in funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 2:00pm from the parking lot of the Shelby Memory Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Calera, AL. Everyone please remain in your vehicle at all time and follow the directions of funeral home staff.

Interment will follow the service in the Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Cathy’s memory.
