CECIL RAY GILES, age 82, of Clanton, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025 at Cedar Ridge in Clanton, AL.
He was born in Chilton County on February 12, 1943, the son of the late Marvin Giles and the late Gloria Wagner. Cecil worked for many years as a loom mechanic at the cotton mill in Selma. He was a hardworking man who found great joy in the simple things of life.
Cecil loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or enjoying the beauty of fall, his favorite season of the year. He was a loyal Alabama football fan and looked forward to watching his team play. Above all, Cecil cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly Sue Giles of Clanton; sons, Matthew (Lisa) Giles of Selma and Mark (Olivia) Giles of Owasso, OK; daughter, Lisa (Jeremy) Helms of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Marissa Giles, Charles Giles, Stephanie Pincince, Megan Helms, Joshua Helms, and Ashley Helms; and great-grandchildren, Emmleigh Giles, Ayva Giles, Ethan Pincince, Lily Pincince, Oliver Pincince, and Colt Helms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Giles and Gloria Wagner, and his brother, Lucky Lamar Giles.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Green officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Cane Creek Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cedar Ridge Veterans Facility in Clanton, AL.
