Cecil David Roper

CECIL DAVID ROPER, age 64, of Jemison, passed away suddenly on October 12, 2025, at UAB St. Vincent–Chilton Hospital in Clanton, AL.

He was born in Mobile, AL on January 28, 1961, the son of the late Earl Roper and the late Patricia Haywood Roper. Cecil was a carpenter by trade and was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply taking peaceful walks in nature. Cecil had a special love for raising and caring for his dogs, and he found great joy in their companionship. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and friend.

He is survived by his sons, Devin Roper of Jemison and Danny Roper of Jemison; stepdaughters, Brittney Smith of Jemison and Crystal Smith of Jemison; grandchildren, Caroline Roper and Deliah Roper; brother, Buddy Roper of DeFuniak Springs, FL; and sisters, Kathy Roper Shaw of Troy, Susan Driver of Jemison, Lisa Rasberry of Maplesville, and Lynn Roper of Jemison. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Patricia Roper; sister, JoAnn Mims; and brothers, Richard Roper, Danny Roper, and Mike Roper.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in The Community Room at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, AL.
