Cecil Wayne Scott

CECIL WAYNE SCOTT, age 77 of Verbena, passed away on June 17, 2022 at Buck Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Chilton County on September 4, 1944; the son of the late Elmer Nelson Scott and the late Lucinda Davenport Scott.

He retired from Alabama Power Company as a security guard. Prior to that, he retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service with three tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the Silver Service Star, 3 Bronze Service Stars, and was a three-time recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is survived by: Wife, Ina Mae Scott of Verbena; Son, Jody J. (Terra) Scott of Thorsby; Son, Dennis W. (Amanda) Scott of Calera, Grandchildren: Jesse W. Scott, Madison N. Scott, and Gavin N. Scott; Brother, Earl Scott of Anniston; Brother, Sidney Scott of Maplesville; Brother, Douglas “Duke” Scott of Maplesville; and Sister, Glenda Scott of Maplesville.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral home in Clanton, AL.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Inurnment with full military honors will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 9:30am in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
