MARY CHRISTEEN (ROBINSON) CATON, age 88 of Jemison, passed away on December 16, 2025 at Baptist Health-Shelby Hospital in Alabaster, AL. She was born in Chilton County on Christmas Day in 1936; the daughter of the late Rufus Robinson and the late Willie Mae Smith Robinson.
She was a woman of deep compassion, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to her community. She lived a life marked by service, generosity, and strength.
Christeen began her career at Liberty Trousers, where she was known for her dedication and reliability. Later in life, she became a real estate entrepreneur, using her work to serve others. She provided many families in our community with a place they could call home. Her impact reached far beyond business as she offered stability, dignity, and hope to many who needed it most.
Christeen was a mother figure to many. Her home was a place of welcome, where there was always a warm plate of food and a place at her table for anyone who needed it. Whether through a meal, a conversation, or a helping hand, Christeen made people feel seen, valued, and loved.
A true pillar of the Jemison community, Christeen Caton leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and selfless care for others. Her life will be remembered not just for what she did, but for how she loved. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by: Son, Allen (Jann) Caton; Son, Wayne Caton; Grandchildren: Cyndi (Lake) Gilliland, Justin (Bridget) Caton, and Ashley (Jarnez) Caton; Great Grandchildren: Noah Gilliland, Bella (Sawyer) Collum, Olivia Gilliland, Aiden Nix, Kylar Caton, Cooper Caton, Amelia Marzette, Arnez Marzette, Lincoln Marzette, and Bristol Caton; A Great-Great Grandchild on the way, Navie Rae Collum; Brother, Frankie Robinson; and Special Nephew, Danny Robinson.
She is preceded in death by: Husband, George William Caton; Parents, Rufus and Willie Mae Robinson; Sister, Betty Ann Armbrust; Brother, Hershel Lee Robinson; Brother, Willie Lee Robinson; Nephews, Charles Buster Armbrust and Bobby Armbrust; and Nieces, Laveda Edmonson and Lisa Cleckley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00am from Jemison First Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Caton and Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the Pates Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.
