CLAIR GLYNN (WARD) CHISLER, age 88 of Marbury and a former resident of Montgomery, passed away on July 28, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Opp, AL on June 2, 1933; the daughter of the late Rev. Willard C. Ward and the late Foye G. Henley Ward.
Clair grew up in Opelika, AL and later married Harold Chisler. She became an Air Force wife. She was an active member of the Officer’s Wives Club at Randolph AFB in Texas and later at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery. While in Montgomery, AL she was active in the Newcomer’s Club, the Progress Club, the Garden Club, the Women’s Club of Montgomery, and the Montgomery Bridge Club. Clair enjoyed playing piano and began playing in church and at gospel singings at a young age.
She is survived by: Daughter, Cynthia (Grant) Sexton of Marbury; Granddaughter, Austin Clair Sexton of Marbury; Brother, Edsel Ward of Montgomery; Nieces: Kim, Kerry, and Pam; and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by: Husband, Harold Chisler; Parents, Rev. Willard and Foye Ward; and Nephew, Michael Ward.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021at 2:00pm from the Floyd Baptist Church in Verbena, AL with Rev. Jack Allen and Rev. Derek Deavers officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
