Cleto Lezama Rivera, age 54, of Jemison, Alabama, passed away on April 6, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Hospital East in Trussville, Alabama. He was born on April 26, 1971, in Veracruz, Mexico, the son of the late Manuel Lezama Martinez and Maria Rivera Cid.
Cleto was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family as a skilled welder. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and dependability.
Above all, Cleto was a devoted husband and family man. He found his greatest joy at home, caring for his wife and spending time with those he loved. He enjoyed working on his farm and had a special fondness for the animals he raised, particularly his chickens, horses, and his beloved dogs. In his younger years, he shared many happy memories rabbit hunting alongside his brothers.
Cleto was also a man of faith who remained faithful to the Catholic Church. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Clanton, where he found strength, guidance, and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Hernandez Palacios; his son, Julio Lezama; his stepsons, Guerson Garcia and Abraham Garcia; his mother, Maria Rivera Cid; his brothers, Jose Lezama (Tanya) Rivera, Antonia Lezama Mota, and Lupe Lezama; his sisters, Antonia Lezama Rivera and Juaiva Lezama Rivera; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Lezama Martinez, and his brother, Primitibo Lezama Rivera.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, Alabama.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Clanton, Alabama, with Father Hosea officiating.
Following the service, burial will take place in Cleto’s hometown in Mexico at a later date.
Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, Alabama.

Cleto fue un hombre trabajador que dedicó su vida a proveer para su familia como soldador. Sentía un gran orgullo por su trabajo y era conocido por su fuerte ética laboral y su responsabilidad.
Por encima de todo, Cleto fue un esposo devoto y un hombre de familia. Encontraba su mayor alegría en su hogar, cuidando de su esposa y pasando tiempo con sus seres queridos. Disfrutaba trabajar en su rancho y tenía un cariño especial por los animales que criaba, especialmente sus gallinas, caballos y sus queridos perros. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Teresa Hernández Palacios; su hijo, Julio Lezama; sus hijastros, Guerson García y Abraham García; su madre, María Rivera Cid; sus hermanos, José Lezama (Tanya) Rivera, Antonia Lezama Mota y Lupe Lezama; sus hermanas, Antonia Lezama Rivera y Juaiva Lezama Rivera; así como numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y otros familiares que atesorarán su memoria.
Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Manuel Lezama Martínez, y su hermano, Primitibo Lezama Rivera.
La velación se llevará a cabo el viernes 10 de abril de 2026, de 6:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., en Ellison Memorial Funeral Home en Clanton, Alabama.
La Misa de cuerpo presente se celebrará el sábado 11 de abril de 2026 a las 11:00 a.m. en Resurrection Catholic Church en Clanton, Alabama, oficiada por el Padre Hosea.
Después del servicio, el sepelio se llevará a cabo en su ciudad natal en México en una fecha posterior.
