Dalton Ray Vance

DALTON RAY VANCE, age 80 of Thorsby, AL, died on Monday, January 26, 2026 following a long illness. He was born and raised in Ethel, Mississippi, the 7th of 8 children to Ellie Hugh and Myma Lee Vance.

Dalton retired from truck driving after 50 years and over 10 million miles driven. He was an avid SEC football fan and enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains with his wife. You could often find him riding his John Deere, mowing his lawn, as well as the lawns of his neighbors.

He is survived by: Wife, Carolyn Williams Vance of Thorsby; Son, Charles Vance (Andrew) Broussard of Atlanta; Don-in-Law, Danny White of Clanton; Grandchildren, Parker White and Mary Margaret white both of Clanton; Great Grandchild, Sebastian White of Clanton; Stepson, Johnny (Sherry) Gandy; and Step-Grandchildren, Wes Gandy and Cory (Kayla) Gandy.

He is preceded in death by his parents along with his daughter, Melinda Vance White who passed in 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, AL.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
