Daniel "Danny" Ray Church

DANIEL RAY “DANNY” CHURCH, age 75 of Clanton, AL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025 at his residence with his wife and son by his side. He was born in Vansant, VA on November 17, 1949; the son of the late James Banner Church and the late Virginia Looney Church.

Danny was a 1968 graduate of Grundy Senior High School. He coached football and baseball for 20 years in Vansant, VA. He worked for 35 years with Koch Industries and retired to Bannerwood Farms to deer hunt and enjoy family life on the farm. His grandchildren were his main joy in life.

He is survived by: Wife, Linda Church of Clanton; Son, Dan (Jennifer) Church of Thorsby; Grandchildren, Anna Kate Church and Carson Church both of Thorsby; Sisters: Joyce (Kenny) Perkins of Abingdon, VA, Kathy (George) Crigger of Vansant, VA, Dreama Church of Abingdon, VA, and Tami (Tim) Hess of Grundy, VA; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Jerry Smith of Grundy, VA.

A time of visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 3-5pm in the Community Room of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, AL.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Danny’s hometown in Virginia.
