DEANNA LEE (CHAFFIN) SPEAKMAN, age 63 of Jemison, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025 at her residence. She was born on July 31, 1962; the daughter of the late John Chaffin and the late Joan Rector Chaffin.
She was a homemaker. Her love was steady, faithful, and fierce; the kind of love you didn’t have to question because you felt it daily. She loved her husband with her whole heart. She also loved her daughters and all her grandchildren beyond measure. Her pride in her family was obvious. She carried each of you in her heart, prayed for you, worried over you, and celebrated you. Her love will continue to live on through every generation she helped to shape. She had a way of loving people into family. Anyone who came through her home, anyone who stayed the night and needed a place of comfort, was treated like one of her own. To many she was not just a friend, she was a second mom. Her door was open, her heart was open, and her care and love were unconditional. She also loved her pets deeply and gave them the same love she gave to everyone she loved. Above all, she loved God. Her faith anchored her life. It gave her strength in her suffering, peace in uncertainty, and hope beyond this life. That unwavering faith of knowing God’s love carried her through everything she faced and now has carried her home. Her life was not one measured by ease, but by love, faith, sacrifice, and perseverance. She fought hard, loved hard, and gave all she had; and now, her work here is done. We will miss her voice, her hugs, her presence, and everything about her. But, we will carry her love with us always. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every heart she softened, and every soul she loved.
She is survived by: Husband, Danny Speakman; Daughter, Shannon (Sam) Hamilton; Daughter, Shalone Morehead; Grandchildren: Chyenne Skinner, Grant, Kaylee, Gavin, and Branson; Great Grandchild, Ronnie Skinner III; Nephew, Stony (Valerie) Bigbee; and her beloved pets: Johnny, Gypsy, Puppy Puppy; and a host of many others who loved her.
She is preceded in death by: Parents, John and Joan Chaffin; Sister, Patricia Gwin; Brother, Wesley Chaffin; her beloved dog, Radar; and many other fur babies.
A private interment will be held in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.
