Debra Marie (Smith) Jones

DEBRA MARIE (SMITH) JONES, age 53, of Clanton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2025, at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL. She was born in St. Clair County, AL, on December 13, 1971, the daughter of the late Emmett Smith and the late Cora Mae Cornelius Smith.

Debra was a woman of faith whose life was centered on her love for God and her family. She worked many years as a cashier with Dollar General, where her kind spirit and joyful laughter touched the lives of many. She cherished every moment with her loved ones, always putting family first. Debra enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation through fishing and hunting, and she believed in making lasting memories. She found strength and comfort in reading her Bible daily, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Cleve Jones of Clanton; daughter, Tasha (Jonathan) Reynolds of Gadsden; son, Wesley (Amy) Jones of Steele; daughter, Keshia (Bradley Ray) Shaulis of Thorsby; son, Brandon (Brooke) Jones of Jemison; son, Brent (Mattie) Jones of Jemison; nine precious grandchildren; sister, Donna Cleckley of Clanton; sister, Denise Scott of Thorsby; and brother, Dennis Smith of Vidor, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Cora Mae Smith; brother, Dewayne Smith; and brother-in-law, Rev. Willard Scott.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Jones and Rev. Billy Driver officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
