Debra Jean (Railey) Smith, age 72, of Jemison and formerly of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 23, 2026.
She was born in Columbus, Georgia on July 25, 1953, to the late Doc Railey and the late Lucy Mann Railey. Debra spent many years working as a caregiver for the elderly, a calling she truly loved and one that reflected her compassionate and caring nature.
Debra was someone who loved to stay busy and enjoyed being on the go. She found happiness in riding around and traveling, always appreciating the simple pleasures of life. She also loved the outdoors, especially fishing and caring for her yards, which she maintained with pride and dedication.
She is survived by her son, Randall C. Phillips, Jr. of Jemison; sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Fortson, Georgia, Mary Ann O'Hearn of Columbus, Georgia, and Hazel Tindall of Columbus, Georgia; and her brother, Bobby Railey of Columbus, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Smith.
Debra will be laid to rest during a private family service at Double Churches Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
Final care and arrangements are entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, Alabama.
