Diane Cleckler Obituary

DIANE (MIMS) CLECKLER, age 73, of Clanton, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at UAB St. Vincent–Chilton Hospital in Clanton, Alabama.

She was born in Chilton County on February 20, 1952, the daughter of the late Voncile Ward Powell. Diane was employed for many years in the sales department at Wayne Industries in Clanton, where she was known for her dedication and kindness toward both coworkers and customers.

Diane’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—each one holding a special place in her heart. Her days were made brighter by the simple pleasures she cherished most: a warm cup of coffee, the beauty of her flowers, and the quiet joy of watching birds from her window or porch. Her gentle spirit and love for nature reflected the peaceful way she lived her life.

She was a devoted member of West End Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship with others sustained her through life’s seasons.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Cameron) Bates of Clanton; son, Eric (Chad McPherson) Cleckler of Montgomery; daughter, Christy Foshee of Pell City; grandchildren, Becca Connell of Maplesville, Cole Bates of Clanton, and Kaylee Patterson of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Brantley Connell, Carter Connell, Ahendrix Hall, and Emberly Fancher; and brother, Alton Mims of Clanton.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Voncile Powell; brother, Allen Mims; and sister, Joane Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from West End Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Martin, Rev. Eddie Lightsey, and Rev. James Watkins officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in the Clanton City Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the West End Baptist Church Building Fund 2005 2nd Ave. N. Clanton, AL 35045.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, AL.
