Ellen Laverl (Brantley) Scott

ELLEN LAVERLE (BRANTLEY) SCOTT, age 82 of Jemison, passed away on February 15, 2024 at her residence.  She was born in Chilton County on July 11, 1941; the daughter of the late Chester Floyd Brantley and the late Emma Lessie Posey Brantley.

She was a loving homemaker and a devoted member of Union Springs Baptist Church, who always attended church faithfully as long as her health permitted. 

She is survived by:  husband of 64 years, James Edward Scott; daughter Kim (David) Hopper of Jemison, AL; daughter Wendy (Brian) Paschal of Jemison, AL; Grandchildren:  Derrick (Whittley) Hopper; Kendra Hopper; Brianne (Patrick) Williams; and Brett (Anna Claire) Paschal; Great Grandchildren: Everette Hopper, Samuel Hopper, Mary Ellen Williams, Maggie Paschal and Ada Paschal, brother Wayne Brantley and sister-in-law Judy Brantley.

She is preceded in death by: sister, Joyce Hayes; sister, Shirley Blackerby; and brother, Dan Brantley. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 2:00pm from Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Lowery and Rev. Evie Megginson officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Union Springs Baptist Cemetery in Randolph, AL.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Union Springs Baptist Church building fund.

The family also wishes to express immense gratitude to the staff of Aveanna Hospice and her caregivers for the compassionate and loving care they provided over the past several months.
