ERNEST LEE CREPPS, SR., age 87, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 at the home of Ernest and Alicia Crepps. He was born on February 12, 1938; as the youngest of 6 siblings to John Allen Crepps and Leona Draughn Crepps of Perdue Hill, AL.
Ernest “Boonie” was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. He attended Baker High School where he was an outstanding baseball player. From 1961 to 1963, he served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class stationed ta Fort Eustis, VA. After returning to Mobile, Ernest began working for Hertz Rent-a-Car where he served as city manager for 41 years.
Being an avid golfer, he was a longtime member of Springhill Golf Course where he was known by many. He loved animals and was a major contributor to the local SPCA as well as a volunteer at the local animal shelter. He loved sports cars and throughout the years enjoyed driving his Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes. If you knew anything about Boonie, it was that he was a big sports fan. More specifically, he was a huge Bama fan.
He is survived and fondly remembered by: Son, Ernest (Alisha) Crepps, Jr. of Clanton; Grandson, Charles T. (Ashton) Crepps of Leeds; Granddaughter, Kaitlin Crepps (Kenny) Jones of Georgetown, TX; Great Grandson, Osie Crepps Jones of Georgetown, TX; Great Granddaughter, Harriet Crepps Jones of Georgetown, TX; and Sister, Ethel Warren of Mobile.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, John A. and Leona D. Crepps; Sister, Johnnye Gentry; Sister, Emma Harrison; Brother, James Crepps; and Brother, Leroy “Buck” Crepps.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11:00am in Spring Hill Memorial Gardens located at 626 Pierce Road Mobile, AL 36608.
