Garry Wayne Dodson

GARRY WAYNE DODSON, age 78 of Montevallo, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 24, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Jefferson County, AL on August 29, 1943; the son of the late Andy Franklin Dodson and the late Alline Bergin Dodson.

He grew up in Powderly, AL and graduated from Jones Valley High School. He began his career at an early age at Sepco, where he proudly worked for 57 years. He retired as president.

He enjoyed working on his farm, woodworking, fishing, NASCAR, and Alabama Football. He was a man that could troubleshoot and fix or build just about anything. He loved people greatly and had a kind and humble heart. Everyone was better for having known him.

He was a member of Cedar Grove Bible Church. He loved his church family very much. He loved the Lord and his family above all! Not to forget his four-legged friends that will greatly miss him also, his dogs Ellie, Rocky, and Josie.

He is survived by: Wife, Pamela Roberson Dodson; Daughter, Haley Dodson (Jeff) Evans; Daughter, Jill Dodson (Bobby) McNeel; Grandson, Blake (Alex) Dodson; Grandson, Daniel (Olivia) Evans; Granddaughter, Emery McNeel; and Granddaughter, Avery McNeel.

He is preceded in death by: Father, Andy Franklin Dodson; Mother, Alline Bergin Dodson; Brother, Andy Franklin Dodson, Jr.; and Sister, Rose Marie Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 2:00pm from the Cedar Grove Bible Church with Rev. Jeff Carroll officiating.

Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.

The family request in lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Chilton County Humane Society or to Samaritan’s Purse.
