GEORGE WENDELL MIMS, age 69 of Clanton, passed away on May 12, 2024 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Chilton County on March 24, 1955; the son of the late Roy Mims and the late Lucile Blackwell Mims.
Wendell was a former service representative with Central Alabama Electric Cooperative. He enjoyed spending time outdoors where he would hunt and fish. He loved spending time in his garden as well. He was an avid and faithful member of the Clanton First Assembly of God where he taught Sunday School.
He is survived by: Wife, Carolyn Mims of Clanton; Son, Tyler (Brittney) Mims of Greenville, SC; Daughter, Kimberly (Lee) Boartfield of Clanton; Grandchildren: Grace Mims, Jaxson Boartfield, Bruce Mims, Jude Boartfield, and Brooks Mims; Brother, Donny (Dot) Mims of Wetumpka; Sister, Dianne (John) Trahan of Calera; Sister, Mary Sue (Ronnie) Porter of Clanton; and Chosen Family: Danny, Jeni, Josiah, Aubrey, Ethan, and Micah Schluckebier of Quincy, IL.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, Roy and Lucile Mims.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 12:00 Noon from the Clanton First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Randy Reid officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
