GLENN OWENS passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 1, 2023, after a valiant fight with cancer.
Glenn was born in Indiana but grew up in Colorado and Tennessee. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and met his wife while stationed in Okinawa. The military instilled in him determination, flexibility, and a love for his countrymen, which followed him throughout his life.
When his tour of duty was over, Glenn received his bachelor’s degree in missions from Tennessee Temple University. He and his wife and their three small children spent the next ten years sharing the gospel with military families stationed in Japan.
After returning to the US in 1999, Glenn faithfully served his church teaching Sunday School, running the sound, and occasionally preaching and leading music. He invested his life in others, especially his grandson with whom he built a log cabin and tinkered on old cars.
More than all the memories he made with those who loved him, though, were all the spiritual lessons he imparted. When he received his cancer diagnosis in the spring of 2022, he made it his mission to use his circumstances to glorify God and point others to the hope he had in Christ.
In May 2023, Glenn earned his master’s degree in counseling. Despite his terminal diagnosis and near constant treatment, he never stopped learning or teaching.
