GREGORY FRANKLIN STEVENS, age 62 of Jemison, passed away on November 22, 2024 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Homewood, AL. He was born in Wetumpka, AL on November 18, 1962; the son of the late William Stevens and the late Sally Slay Stevens.
He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He also loved the outdoors where he would spend time both hunting and fishing. He loved to grow a garden and was looking forward to landscaping he and his wife’s new home this upcoming spring. He had a photographic memory that allowed him to be a very creative individual. He enjoyed grilling and cooking and would use his talent to prepare a meal for Turning Point Ministries on the first of each month. He was a faithful member of the Church at Bethel where he could always be found working around the church. He was also faithful to serve the Lord’s call to the mission field by going on several mission trips to Peru.
He is survived by: Wife, Linda Stevens of Jemison; Stepdaughter, Heather Bailey of Jemison; Daughter, Ashley turner of Charleston, SC; Granddaughter, Sofia Turner of Charleston, SC; Brother, Slay Stevens of Montgomery; and Sister, Lisa Stevens Montgomery of Nashville, TN.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, William and Sally Stevens.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 4:00pm from the Church at Bethel in Thorsby, AL with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family request no flowers, but encourage memorial contributions be made in Gregory’s memory to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, or to the Church at Bethel.
