Gwendolyn Lee Goodlow-Griffin, age 90 of Clanton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 at Hatley Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clanton.
Gwendolyn was born on January 31, 1936 in Watervliet, Michigan, the daughter of the late Devon Selter and the late Lucille Mitchell Selter. Affectionately known as “Gwen,” she lived a full and vibrant life marked by her love for family, faith, and fellowship.
Gwen worked for many years as a school bus driver, faithfully transporting special needs students. She carried out her work with patience, compassion, and a caring spirit that made a lasting impact on the children and families she served.
She had a joyful personality and a flair for fashion, always enjoying shopping and selecting her shiny clothes and jewelry. Gwen loved attending church and found great happiness in singing and listening to southern gospel music. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to worship with her church family.
She is survived by her daughter, Alisha Baxter of Kalamazoo, Michigan; sons, Loren (Pam) Simmons of Clanton and Clay Simmons of Niles, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Griffin; daughter, Gidgett Craig; and son, Lindsey Goodlow.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from Lomax Independent Church with Rev. Rust Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
