Herbert "Hub" Alvin Posey

HERBERT ALVIN POSEY, age 87 of Clanton, passed away on March 29, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Chilton County on October 25, 1936; the son of the late James David Posey and the late Agnes Cofer Posey.

Hub as he was affectionately known by his many friends could be found on most any given day spending time at the I-65 Chevron in Jemison. There he spent countless hours talking, reminiscing, and solving the world’s many problems. He also enjoyed spending time at the Jemison Jacks where he had friends who would enjoy doing those same things with him. Hub enjoyed the outdoors where he would hunt and fish, and later in life would just enjoy the beauty of a drive through the county. He loved his family very much, and cherished the time he got to spend with them. Hub deeply loved his Lord Jesus Christ and came to salvation during a service at New Hope Baptist Church, known locally as the “Old Smith Schoolhouse.”

He is survived by: Son, Wayne Posey of Clanton; Grandchildren: Cody, Misty, Mandy, and Garon; Several Great Grandchildren; Sister, Jeanene Marcus of Clanton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends beyond number.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Virginia Jane Posey; Daughter, Cindy Posey; and Daughter-in-Law, Debbie Posey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 2:00pm from New Hope Baptist Church (Old Smith Schoolhouse) with Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the New Hope Community Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
