Howard Hughes Obituary

HOWARD CARLISS HUGHES passed away on December 19, 2025, at his residence in Clanton, Alabama. He was born on December 23, 1958, in Hodge, Louisiana, the son of the late James William Hughes and the late Faith Yvonne Blackwell Hughes.

Howard honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and pride. Following his military service, he spent his working years as a truck driver, a career well-suited to his independent spirit and strong work ethic.

He loved the outdoors and found great enjoyment in hunting and fishing. Howard also had a true passion for working on vehicles, often spending countless hours repairing, restoring, or simply tinkering under the hood. These hobbies brought him both peace and purpose throughout his life.

Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Heidemarie Hughes of Clanton; his sons, George Foster (Monica) Ackers of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Tommy (Teresa) Ackers of Bastrop, Louisiana, and Stefan (Alison) Ackers of Brenan, Texas; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister, Ann (Lee) Lucas of Monroe, Louisiana; and his brother, Kenneth (Bobette) Hughes of Monroe, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Aaron Ackers, and his parents, James W. Hughes and Faith Y. Hughes.

The family plans to hold a service at a later date.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, AL.
