RET. MSGT USAF JACK MORGAN PATE, age 87 of Clanton, passed away suddenly on May 8, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on May 1, 1934; the son of the late John Pate and the late Evie Lou Ray Pate.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to many. He was a devoted husband for over 64 years to his beloved wife, Faye. They shared a love story like no other. Jack was admired not only by his family, but also by his community for his hard work and his integrity. He loved the outdoors and working to keep his home and yards impeccably maintained. Jack was also a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a Master Mason.
Jack was the definition of a true patriot. He was a highly decorated officer in the United States Air Force with service during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He went on to have a combined career of over 40 years in civil service. He loved his country, and his patriotism and love for the flag was unmatched and evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by: Wife, Faye Pate of Clanton; Daughter, Cindy (Don) Garrett of Clanton; Daughter, Sandy Pate of Jemison; Granddaughter, Heather Thomas of Birmingham; Granddaughter, Synna (Robert) Luke of Columbus, GA; Granddaughter, Ashley Garrett of Atlanta, GA; Granddaughter, Shelby Guy of Jemison; Great Grandson, George Luke III of Columbus, GA; Sister, Doris Smitherman of Clanton; and Brother, Jerry Pate of Clanton.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, John and Evie Lou Pate; Brother, Julius Pate; and Sister, Patricia Cofer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Chilton County Circuit Clerk Glenn McGriff, Chilton County Sherriff John Shearon, and Bro. Billy Maddox officiating.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
