James Alan Powell

JAMES ALAN POWELL, age 59 of Clanton, passed away on August 1, 2020 at St. Vincent- Chilton Hospital in Clanton, AL. He was born in Birmingham, AL on March 11, 1961; the son of the late Rufus Alec Powell and the late Elsa Marie Livingston Powell.

Alan loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He had a passion for helping people and will be most remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by: Wife, Linda Powell of Clanton; Son, Johnny Powell of Clanton; Sister, Wanda (Anthony) Townson of Cullman; 4 Nieces; and 4 Nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Father, Alec Powell; Mother, Elsa Powell; and Uncle, Max Powell.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Anthony Townson officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.

The family request no flowers but ask that donations be made towards the funeral expenses at the funeral home or via the funeral home website.
