JAMES LEVERT ROBERTS, age 86 of Clanton, passed away on April 28, 2022 at his home on Waxahatchee Creek in Clanton, AL. He was born in Chilton County on November 17, 1935; the son of the late James Lester Roberts and the late Annie Kemp Roberts. He is also the brother of the late Barbara Roberts Pledger.
He lived a full life being a husband, a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a hardworking brick mason, farmer, game room owner, fisherman, hunter, and collector of antiques. He served in the United States Marine Corps and the National Guard for 8 years. He was also a member of the Chilton Baptist Builders.
He is survived by: Wife, Elizabeth D. Roberts of Clanton; Daughter, Felicia (Rodney) Martin of Clanton; Son, Troy O. Roberts of Clanton; 5 Grandchildren: David Martin, Phillip (Halie) Martin, Holly (Mark) Payton, Cassie Penton, and Trae Roberts all of Clanton; 4 Great Grandchildren: Jake Payton, Mason Penton, Brodie Penton, and James Michael Martin all of Clanton; Brother, George Amos (Jeanette) Roberts; and his extended family of: Daughter, Sandra T. Isbell; Friend, Julio Garrido; Grandsons: Hunter Isbell, Jordan Isbell, and David Isbell of North Carolina; Son, Stephen (Rachelle) Talley; and Grandson, Preston B. Talley of Chelsea.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 3:00pm from Bell Lane Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Chandler and Rev. Tony Christensen officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
