James William Adams

JAMES WILLIAM ADAMS, age 86 of Calera, passed away on April 11, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Shelby County, AL on August 20, 1936; the son of the late Carvie Franklin Adams and the late Nora Brown Adams-Isbell.

James was the former owner and operator of Valley Distributors. He was a man with many titles. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. However, most knew him as Pa. After 7 long years of battling multiple myeloma, Pa went home to be with our Savior and his childhood sweetheart Nan.

He is survived by: Daughter, Debbie (Ricky) Seale; Son, Wesley (LaRue) Adams; Son, David (Lisa) Adams; Grandchildren: Adam (Michelle) Seale, Tiffany (Chip) Wilkins, John (Kelley) Adams, Jason Adams, Hank (Tiffany) Tolleson, Luke Ranieri, Mallory Ranieri, and William Ranieri; Great Grandchildren: Cash, James, Brenna, Wyatt, Emmie, Ava, Isaac, Lily, Chan, and Tosh; Brother, Terrell (Loretta) Adams; and Sister, Ellen (Pat) Harding.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Catherine Gilmore Adams; Daughter, Cathy (Randy) Duckworth; Grandson, Kevin Parrish; Grandson, Vincent Ranieri: Brother, Farrell Adams; and Brother, Ralph Adams.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 12:00 Noon from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, AL with Father Ray Remke, Father Ray Dunmyer, and Father Brad Jantz officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, AL.

The family request in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
