JAMES ERSKINE GIBSON, age 73 of Jemison, passed away suddenly on October 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on November 29, 1949; the son of the late Briggs Wilson Gibson and the late Dorothy Lee Rasberry Gibson.
He was a former systems engineer with Pitney Bowes. Erskine loved the outdoors where he spent time gardening and going fishing. He was also known and will be remembered for making some of the best boiled peanuts around that were loved by family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by: Son, Russ (Karla) Gibson of Hartselle; Grandson, Jonathan (Alanna) Blankenship of Lake Mary, FL; Grandson, Benjamin (Kelli) Blankenship of Hartselle; Great Grandchildren: Chase Blankenship, Maddie Blankenship, Emmie Blankenship, Andi Blankenship, Ross Blankenship, and Brooks Blankenship; Brother, Briggs Lee (Bobbie) Gibson of Jemison; Brother, Braxton Gibson of Jemison; Brother, Benny (Stephanie) Gibson of Clanton; Sister, Sally (Ronald) Hand of Billingsley; Sister, Wanda Gail (Eddy) Lockhart of Jemison; and Brother, Timmy (Debbie) Gibson of Maplesville.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, Briggs W. and Dorothy R. Gibson; and Sister-in-Law, Linda Gibson.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 3:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, AL with Rev. David Bishop and Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family request no flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church at 850 Co. Rd. 36 Maplesville, AL 36750.
