JEANNETTE TERESA (SMITH) CREEL, age 64 of Jemison, passed away on April 2, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Lexington, KY on January 17, 1961; the daughter of the late Rosco Smith, Sr. and the late Edna Richmond Smith.
She was the former director of the Chilton County Humane Society where she had over 24 years of service. She also served some with the Shelby County Humane Society.
She is survived by: Son, Michael (Crystal) Freeman of Clanton; Son, Shannon (Carrie) Freeman of Cullman; Daughter, Tabatha (Tony) Freeman of Jemison; Special Son, Paulino Gutierrez of Jemison; Grandchildren: Jenny (Henry) Bell, Jason Gutierrez, Jonathan Gutierrez, Brooke Freeman, LaKaya Freeman, Audriana Freeman, Caleb (Kelsey) Freeman, Zack Morgan, and Ashley (Adam) Minyard; 2 Great Grandchildren; Brothers: James (Mildred) Smith, Elwood Smith, Roscoe Smith, Jr., and Roger Smith; Sisters, Joyce Turley and Juanita Steele; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: Husband and Father of Her Children, Michael Freeman; Husband, James Creel; Granddaughter, Courtney Freeman; Parents, Roscoe and Edna Smith; Sisters: Patty Lovings, Patsy Kozach, Brenda Mustaine, Jean Smith, and Bernice Jennings; and Brothers, Frank Smith and Bobby Smith.
The family will hold a private family service at a later date.
