Jerry Levon Gilbert, age 80 of Shelby, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 10, 2026. He was born in Alabama on April 22, 1946, and was the son of the late Elbert Baines Gilbert and the late Wanda Jean Burchfield Gilbert.
Jerry spent most of his life in Brookwood, Alabama, where he was known for his hardworking nature and quiet spirit. He worked for many years as a welder, dedicating himself faithfully to his trade. Outside of work, Jerry found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, enjoyed spending time fishing, and dearly loved his faithful dog, Lucy, who was a constant companion through the years.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his loving family, including his nieces, Jennifer (Jennifer Wright) Pickett of Meridian, Mississippi, and Michelle (Chris) Carlee of Shelby; his great-nieces, Brittany (Patrick) Brewer and Sammi Pickett; and his beloved great-great nieces and nephews, Maverick Brewer, Emerick Brewer, Oaklynn Brewer, Annie Wright, Treyton Holcomb, and Mikaylee Holcomb.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton, Alabama.
