Jimmy Leonard Edwards

JIMMY LEONARD EDWARDS, age 78 of Clanton, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on June 14, 1947; the son of the late Herman B. Edwards and the late Onzelle Popwell Edwards.

Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to have a career and retire from Alabama Power Company where he worked in transmission line construction.

He is survived by: Son, Mark (Sharon) Edwards of Clanton; Son, Matthew (Mary Beth) Edwards of Clanton; Grandchildren: Shanna (John) Maughan, Ashley (Chris) Courville, Evan (Amber) Edwards, and Preston Edwards; and Great Grandchildren: Hailey Maughan, Owen Maughan, Carson Courville, Charlee Monroe, Kingston Edwards, and Trent Ward.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Linda Wilson Edwards.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 2:00pm from Mt. Nebo Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Hughes officiating.

A family inurnment service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in the Alabama National Cemetery. Jimmy's late wife, Linda, will also be inurned along side him during the ceremony.
