John Richard Brasher

JOHN RICHARD BRASHER, age 67 of Jacksonville, AL, passed away on September 4, 2024 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, AL. He was born in Shelby County on May 2, 1957; the son of the late Robert Armon Brasher and the late Betty Ann Swiney Brasher.

John was an avid outdoors man. He spent most of his life in the log woods where he worked as a loader operator. Away from work he enjoyed being in the outdoors turkey hunting and fishing.

He is survived by: Wife, Wanda Faye Brasher of Jacksonville; Daughter, Rachel (Ryan) Varden of Jacksonville; Grandchildren: Kenton Varden, Ava Varden, Johnse Varden, Ryder Snead, and Breanna Miller; Sister, Patricia (Ronnie) Porter of Shelby; Brother, Terry (Sandy) Brasher of Clanton; and Sister, Frances (Max) Wells of Columbiana.

He is preceded in death by: Son, JJ Brasher; Parents, Armon and Betty Brasher; Brother, Jim Brasher; and Sister, Onzella Creel.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Porter, Bro. Nick Wells, and Bro. Buddy Moates officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Brasher Family Cemetery in Shelby, AL.
