John Barbour Gibb

JOHN BARBOUR GIBB, age 70 of Jemison, passed away suddenly on October 21, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Jefferson County, AL on September 21, 1953; the son of the late John Henry Gibb and the late Catheryn Glasscock Gibb.

John was a mechanic who loved working on automobiles and also woodworking. He was a tool collector, many times collecting multiple versions of the same tool. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the dogs while sipping on a Diet Pepsi. He also enjoyed picking up pecans in his yard while they were in season. He will be best remembered as a loving husband to his late wife Mary Jane, and a devoted father to his sons.

He is survived by: Son, John Matthew (Regina) Gibb of Jemison; Son, Brady Wayne N. (Megan) Gibb of Jemison; Grandson, Braylon Wayne Gibb of Jemison; Sister, Jean Silvers of Columbiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Mary Jane Gibb; Infant Son, John Ryan Gibb; Parents, John H. and Catheryn G. Gibb; Sister, Lynn Morris; and Sister, Becky Gibb.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Carey Waldrop officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
