John Chesley Hughes

JOHN CHESLEY HUGHES, age 80 of Montevallo, passed away on June 23, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Shelby County on February 18, 1944; the son of the late William Chesley Hughes and the late Mary Dorothy Varden Hughes.

He was a former welder and mechanic. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by: Wife, Brenda Hughes of Montevallo; Son, John (Tracy) Hughes of Montevallo; Son, Johnny Ray (Kathy) Hughes of MS; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Richard Hughes of Montevallo; and Brother, Raymond Hughes of Montevallo.

He is preceded in death by: Granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Hughes; Parents, Chesley and Dorothy Hughes; and Sister, Geraldine Bice.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:00am in the Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, AL.

There will be no visitation. Everyone please meet at the cemetery for services.
