June (Mims) Rains

BETTY JUNE (MIMS) RAINS, age 84, of Clanton, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on June 11, 1941, the daughter of the late Howard Lee Mims and the late Mary Katheryn Bates Mims.

June was a kind and gentle soul whose heart was always turned toward others. She was a down-to-earth lady who never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer a word of comfort. Her life was one of quiet giving — she sacrificially gave to those around her and found true joy in helping others.

She had a special love for animals and was known for taking in any stray that crossed her path. Each one found in her a soft voice, a warm home, and tender care.

June was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, where she faithfully served for many years. She took great pride in her role as church custodian, treating it as an act of love and devotion to her Lord and her church family.

She is survived by her loving children: Martha Batson of Niceville, FL; Lisa Rains Saldana of Jemison; and Jeffrey Rains of Jemison; along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Kate Thetford, Joyce Wheeler, Melba Jean McDaniel, and Kathy Hinton; and her brothers, Paul Mims and Donald Mims.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Gene Rains; her parents, Howard Lee and Mary Katheryn Mims; sisters, Mildred Louise Baker and Ann Banks; and brother, Jesse Lee Mims.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, Alabama.
