Kathleen Warner Obituary

Kathleen Provancal Warner, 62, of Clanton, Alabama died unexpectedly on November 28th,
2023. Kathy’s passing was completely sudden and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
Kathleen was born on January 10th, 1961 to Irene and James Provancal in Kankakee, Illinois.
Kathy grew up in Morris, Illinois where she attended Immaculate Conception School and Morris High
School.  While in school, she was dedicated to not only academics, but also to basketball, tennis and
track & field. After graduating high school, Kathy attended the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Education & Teaching.  She briefly
worked as a high school math/science teacher at Hoffman Estates High School before getting married,
starting a family and raising 4 beautiful children.
In 2002, Kathy returned to school to complete an Associate’s of Applied Science in Cardiac
Technology at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.  This was the start of a life-changing career for her and
for the many lives she would impact and change over the years.  She worked at Loyola University
Medical Center for 8 years, 4 of those years as the technical coordinator, before moving to Birmingham,
Alabama with her husband Lee and daughter Anna.
Her passion for and knowledge of cardiology continued to grow while working as an ultrasound
lab supervisor for 6 years where she was recognized for her ethical practices and leadership skills.
Kathy then found her way back to education where her technical proficiency, strengths in the
Cardiovascular field, and her love of teaching combined as she initiated and developed the Diagnostic
Medical Sonography-Cardiac Program at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham.  Kathy
gracefully led several cohorts through the program, creating a path for them to start meaningful careers
in the medical field.  She was met with many challenges along the way, but because she truly believed in
creating a program that was accessible to adults from all walks of life, she found a way to provide this
opportunity at Lawson State.
Anyone who knew Kathy knew that she was strong, kind, gentle, fun-loving and one hell of a
euchre and pickleball player.  Her love for her family was at the very center of her being and she
expressed that love every moment she was on this earth.  Kathy and Lee enjoyed time on the water-
boating and fishing at their lake house on Lay Lake- and traveled throughout the US and the world with
family and friends. The summer of ’23 was spent aboard their yacht, RedBow V, as they embarked on the
first leg (Great Lakes) of the continental US nautical voyage described as The Great Loop with their dogs
Jack and Roxie.
Personally and professionally, Kathy had an immense passion for education and was always a
source of positivity and encouragement.  Her impact started in Illinois, grew in Alabama, and will
continue to spread through so many, many lives.  Kathy’s family and friends will miss her more than
words can say.  Kathy is survived by her husband, Lee; her children, Ellen (TC), JT (Susie), Jim (Shannon)
and Anna; her grandchildren, Scarlett and JJ; her stepchildren Hayden and Chase; her siblings, Steve
(Laurie), Jeanne (Rich), and Sue; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Kathleen Warner can be made to the YMCA of Chilton
County-Kathy Warner Memorial Fund.
A service in remembrance of Kathy on January 13th, 2024 will be held at First Presbyterian Church of
Arlington Heights, 302 N Dunton Ave, Arlington Heights, IL at 11:00am.  An open house reception to
celebrate her life will take place at the Mount Prospect Golf Club, 600 S. See-Gwun Ave, Mount
Prospect, IL from 1:00-5:00pm.
There will be a second memorial in Clanton, Alabama in March (TBD) as the family and YMCA personnel
break ground on Kathy’s Orchard. More details to follow.
