EDGAR LEWIS DUREN, age 88 of Clanton, passed away on February 4, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on November 8, 1937; the son of the late Richard Duren and the late Pauline Grubbs Duren.
Lewis was a man whose life was defined by duty, faith, and love. He was a man of honor - a proud Navy veteran who served his country with dignity and a Bible-believing Christian who served his Lord with devotion. That deep sense of commitment extended to his home, where he was a devoted husband and an outstanding father.
He was the rock of his family and a role model to all. Lewis was known for being dependable; if he said he would be there, he was. He had a caring heart and was always the first to help anyone he could, never asking for anything in return.
Lewis Duren was a good man in every sense of the word. We will miss his strength and his kindness, but we take comfort knowing he is at peace with his creator.
He is survived by: Wife, Millie Duren of Clanton; Daughter, Laurie (David) Bell of Clanton; Son, Stacy (Nikki) Duren of Clanton; Son, Jason (Jessica) Duren of Jemison; Grandchildren: Courtney (Brittany) Duren, Clint (Tori) Duren, Jessica (Channon) Talley, Victoria Bell, Braylee (D’Wayne) Jarvis, Calin (Makinlee) Duren, Bria (Austin) Wear, Macoy Duren, and Lillian Duren; and Great Grandchildren: Kahlia Mims, Riyah Duren, Tayah Bell, Arianna Jackson, Brenleigh Duren, Ryleigh Duren, Ayla Wear, Kylie Lanier, Jace Freeman, Cole Mims, Trigg Duren, and Spencer Jarvis.
He is preceded in death by: Grandson, Luke Bell; Parents, Richard and Pauline Duren; and Sister, Jeanette “Tootsie” Scott.
