LINDA FAY (MOATES) PATE, age 78 of Thorsby, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 24, 2026.
Linda was born in Chilton County, Alabama on June 3, 1947, the daughter of the late Grady Monroe Moates and the late Willodean Barrett Moates.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys in life was watching her great-grandchildren play and grow. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Linda had a special gift for making beautiful artificial floral arrangements, which she lovingly placed on the gravesites of her family members — a quiet expression of remembrance and devotion. Alongside her late husband, Jack, she found happiness in tending their garden, canning the vegetables they grew together, and working in her flower beds around their home. The two also enjoyed spending peaceful days fishing together, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
She is survived by her daughters, Monica Pate and Jackie (Jeff Ray) Pate; grandson, Brandon (Miranda) Pate; granddaughter, Bailey Ray; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Brinleigh Pate, Karter Pate, and MaKenna Pate.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Pate; her parents, Grady and Willodean Moates; her sister, Barbara Patton; and her brother, Jimmy Moates.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lovett officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Collins Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, Alabama.
Linda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the love she so freely gave to those around her.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.”
