Lonnie "Jimmy" Raymond Parks

LONNIE RAYMOND “JIMMY” PARKS, age 88 of Helena, passed away on May 13, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Birmingham, AL on November 26, 1935; the son of the late Oliver Parks and the late Loreen Blake Parks.

Jimmy was a God fearing and God loving man. He was faithfully devoted to his church where he would share his gift of music and song. One of his most favorite songs to minister with was the motto of his life “Bless The Lord Oh My Soul.”

He is survived by: Daughter, Ruth Parks of Helena; Daughter, Constance Davis of Chelsea; Daughter, Iris Parks of Helena; Daughter-in-Law, Sandy “Bo” Parks-Tolbert of Wilsonville; 8 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; and Nephew and Best Friend, Frankie Parks of Helena.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Yvonne Parks; Son, Mark Parks; and Son-in-Law, Abraham Davis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 6-8pm at Open Door Church in Helena, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00am from Open Door Church with Rev. Rusty Hosmer, Rev. Terry Hosmer, Rev. Bruce Smart, and Rev. Jason Dunn officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene, AL.
